With over 30 years of experience in interior design and the desire to make people’s dreams come true, one team member that stands out at Blackridge is Linda Wallace.
Linda assists her clients with all kinds of home design needs, ranging from bedrooms and kitchens to cabinets and windows. The thing that excites her the most is working with people, listening to what they want, and getting it done within their budget.
“I just enjoy people, I’m not a factory type or a push-buttons type,” she said. “I like to go out to places and take care of what needs to be done, and read the tape measure myself.”
She likes visiting people’s homes and meeting their families to see what their decoration looks like as well as what their home truly needs. Learning if the customer plans on living in the house for years to come or if they want a quick fix to sell the house are what help her decide on the best approach to serve her clients' needs.
“I like listening to people tell me what they want and see what they need in their homes so I can give them a detailed plan for their project at the value they desire,” she said. “I’ve never met a customer that had an unlimited budget — (laughing) I wish I did — it’s all dollars and cents.
“I work hard to get them the most for their money to give them an affordable luxury.”
Linda owes her success in helping people create the home of their dreams to the help she receives from her team.
“It always works on paper or on the computer but having the right guys to build it out in the field is the most important thing,” she said. “It always works when I do it here on the computer, but there always necessary challenges — the walls might not be square, the floors can be uneven, or perhaps the lighting isn’t quite right, just different things — with good vendors and installers I’ve been able to figure it out.”
Linda's best piece of advice for anyone in the industry is simple: listen to how people describe their dream home and work backwards from there to make it a reality at the best possible value.
